Snohomish tennis team rallies to stay undefeated

LAKE STEVENS – The Snohomish Panthers boys tennis team waited until the end to win a Western Conference North Division meet in comeback fashion, defeating Lake Stevens 4-3 Friday.

With the Panthers behind 3-2, Snohomish’s No. 2 doubles team of Chris Mitchell and Ian Sahlberg and No. 3 doubles team of John Markey and Trevor Pratt won consecutive matches to overcome the deficit and help the Panthers stay undefeated at 9-0 in league and overall.

Lake Stevens’ Nick Froman won at No. 1 singles to give the Vikings an early lead, But when singles competition was over, the meet was tied 2-2.

Blake Carbonatto and Danny Kruse won for Lake Stevens at No. 1 doubles, giving the Vikings a brief lead until the final two doubles matches ended in Snohomish victories.

Oak Harbor 4, Marysville-Pilchuck 3: Oak Harbor swept the singles competition, while M-P swept the doubles in the Wesco North meet.

Stanwood 7, Arlington 0: Jacob Schmitt of Stanwood won at No. 3 singles in the only match that went to a third set in the Wesco North meet.

La Conner 3, Archbishop Murphy 1: At La Conner H.S., Lauren Coate had nine kills, 10 blocks and 11 digs, Callan Kosnik had 10 assists and 12 digs and Molly Reynolds had 12 assists for the Wildcats (1-1 in league, 1-3 overall) in their 15-11, 5-15, 13-15, 8-14 Northwest A League match Thursday.

Shoreline Christian 3, Grace Academy 0: At Shoreline Christian H.S., Shoreline Christian defeated Grace Academy 15-4, 15-0, 15-1 to improve to 3-1 in the Northwest B League and 5-2 overall. Grace Academy is 0-3.
