Snohomish too tall for Everett

EVERETT — In basketball, a few extra inches can make all the difference.

Snohomish, which has three players who are taller than six feet, used their height advantage to earn a 68-29 Wesco North victory over Everett on Wednesday at Everett High School.

Everett’s tallest player is 5-foot-11 Nikki Lauritzen, who played but didn’t score, and five players on the roster are under 5-6.

“Our girls played really well,” said Snohomish coach Ken Roberts, whose team jumped to a 30-11 halftime lead. “They executed well on offense.”

Six-foot-one junior Katie Benson led Snohomish with 18 points and 6-1 sophomore Marjorie Heard added 14.

“Our size was hard for them to handle,” said Roberts. “We had a good height advantage and our kids did a good job getting the ball to (Benson, Heard and six-foot senior Shante Scott).”
