The Snohomish Shock Shamrock 10-under select softball team is on a roll.
The Shock won three major tournaments in June and are headed to the Premier Girls Fastpitch National Championships later this month.
The Shock won three tournaments over three consecutive weekends in June. First, they took first place in the United States Specialty Sports Association state tournament on June 10-11 in Fife. Then Snohomish won the Amateur Softball Association Seatac Metro Championships on June 17-18 in Kent and Auburn. Finally, the Shock capped things off by claiming the National Softball Association state tournament on June 23-25 in Kennewick.
Next up for the Shock are the PGF Nationals on July 22-28 in Huntington Beach, California.
The Shock are made up of Bailey Board, Peyton Chin, Emery Fletcher, Katie Krueger, Avalon Kummer, Matea Lopez, Maya Mesa, Malaya Nelson, Hadley Oylear, Hailey Pelletier, Hailey Slemmons, Kyleigh Smith and Kate Winckler. The team is coached by Brent Shamrock and Ron Chaffee.
Smith takes bronze at Canada Cup
Morgan Smith, a graduate of Meadowdale High School, earned a bronze medal at the Canada Cup on July 8 in Guelph, Ontario. Smith, who now wrestles collegiately at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., took third place at 97 kilograms. Smith was the gold medalist at 86 kilograms at last year’s Canada Cup.
