2004: Considering that Granite Falls had officially won a grand total of two games in the three-year history of Tigers soccer, anyone who would’ve pegged the team to go to the 2004 Class 2A state playoffs would have likely been whisked away in a straight jacket. Under the guidance of their second-year coach, however, that’s exactly what the Tigers accomplished. Granite Falls finished second in a tough North Cascades Conference with a 13-3 record and came within two minutes of beating Steilacoom in a state playoff game before falling in a shootout. The Tigers finished with a 14-5 record.

Comment: “Considering where we came from, it was quite the enjoyable year,” Weinmann said. “The kids started playing together and we realized we had a chance to win over 10 games. It was fun to go to every game. The year before, it was ‘We’re going to try hard and keep the score respectable.’”
