EVERETT — Doug Soetaert has been rehired as
general manager of the Everett Silvertips, the team
announced Monday during a press conference.
Soetaert was Everett’s general manager from
the team’s inception. He was the architect of the
team that won the WHL’s U.S. Division and reached
the league finals in its first season in 2003-04. He
resigned after the 2004-05 season to become
assistant genreal manager of the NHL’s Calgary
Flames, as well as president and general manager of
Calgary’s American Hockey League affiliate in Omaha,
Neb. He resigned his positions with the Flames
organization earlier this month after a one-year
stay.
Everett never hired a replacement for
Soetaert, instead spreading the general manager
duties between head coach Kevin Constantine,
director of business operations Zoran Rajcic and
head scout Scott Scoville. Constantine, Rajcic and
Scoville will return to the duties they had prior to
Soetaert stepping down.
