There wasn’t much to report Thursday because the Silvertips cancelled their ice session following their team meeting.
The lone exception was injured captain Dawson Leedahl who went through some drills on the ice with assistant coach Brennan Sonne. Leedahl, who has been battling an ankle injury, had some of his teammates in street clothes cheering/jeering him on from the team bench.
Goaltender Carter Hart even had some words for Leedahl as Hart made his way to the radio booth to tape an interview with Silvertips broadcaster Mike Benton. Speaking of Hart, you should read this article that appeared in The Hockey News on the young Silvertips netminder.
I wouldn’t anticipate Leedahl playing tonight. The ankle has been bothering him for a while, and it sounds like the organization wants to get him healthy now so the injury doesn’t nag him all season. Kevin Davis did not skate Thursday, so we’ll see tonight if he is active or not.
The Silvertips face a hot Prince George team tonight in the fourth and final meeting between the two teams this season. Everett will likely have to contend with Jansen Harkins after the Cougars star did not travel to Xfinity Arena the last time Prince George visited.
You can read about tonight’s matchup from the Prince George perspective and you can also read about Jantzen Leslie’s first practice with Saskatoon since being traded from Everett on Monday. There is also this take on the Brycen Martin trade from the perspective of the Seattle Thunderbirds media.
Also worth noting: It’s Remi Laurencelle Magnet Night at Xfinity Arena. Quite timely given his offensive performance in recent weeks.
