SEATTLE — Kevin Durant of the Seattle SuperSonics has been named the Western Conference rookie of the month for the fifth time this season, a sign he’s likely headed for rookie-of-the-year honors.
Durant, a shooting guard, averaged more than 24 points and four assists per game in April. He capped the month with a career-high 42 points and 13 rebounds in Wednesday’s season-ending victory over Golden State.
For the year, Durant averaged 20.3 points per game.
