MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Pau Gasol had 24 points and 12 rebounds, Mike Miller added 25 points and the Memphis Grizzlies sent the Seattle SuperSonics to their ninth straight loss, 124-100 on Friday night.
Seattle had not lost nine straight since early in the 1972-73 season. Memphis, meanwhile, snapped a five-game skid.
Gasol had four blocks and connected on 11 of 19 shots as Memphis shot 52 percent on the night. Bobby Jones, who is with the Grizzlies under a 10-day contract, had the first double-double of his career with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Juan Carlos Navarro added 21 points.
Kevin Durant led Seattle with 22 points, but hit only eight of 18 shots. Wally Szczerbiak added 19 points, while Chirs Wilcox finished with 13 points, and Nick Collison had 12.
Memphis put the game away with a 25-5 run spanning the second and third periods, building the Grizzlies’ advantage to 83-52. Memphis would extend the advantage to as many as 33 in the second half.
Most of the Memphis regulars sat out the fourth quarter as the Grizzlies held a 30-point lead at the end of three.
