Seattle lost a coin toss on Thursday, meaning it will likely select 12th in the June 24 NBA draft. The Sonics and Golden State finished with 37-45 records, and a coin toss was used to break the tie.
A year ago, Seattle also drafted No. 12, a selection it used to pick Nick Collison.
The Sonics could still move up in the draft if they get lucky in the May 26 draft lottery. Unlike the early years of the lottery, though, the process is weighted heavily in favor of the teams with the worst records, meaning the Sonics have only a slight chance of moving up.
