Clint Dempsey played a big part in the Seattle Sounders’ 4-4 tie in Portland Saturday, scoring twice late to help his team salvage a positive result on the road.
It was Dempsey’s first MLS hat trick, and gave him four goals in two starts this season, a very encouraging sign for the Sounders, who are counting on a big season from the US national team star who they signed last summer. Dempsey missed Seattle’s previous two games, the result of a suspension for violent conduct in Seattle’s Week 2 loss to Toronto.
