The Seattle Sounders announced Tuesday they have loaned midfielder Aaron Kovar to Los Angeles FC for the 2018 Major League Soccer season.
Los Angeles has the option to buy Kovar’s rights at the conclusion of the season.
Kovar, who is entering his fifh pro season, made 44 appearances across all competitions for Seattle and scored three goals. He also appeared in 25 contests with Sounders FC 2, scoring two two goals in USL action.
“This is an excellent opportunity for Aaron to gain playing experience and further his development as a player with exposure to another club,” Sounders General Manager and President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey said. “LAFC provides a new, competitive environment for Aaron and we feel this loan benefits all parties.”
Kovar, 24, is a Seattle native who graduated from Garfield High School. He signed with the Sounders as a Homegrown Player prior to the 2014 season after two standout campaigns at Stanford, where he was the 2012 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
