SEATTLE — Nate Jaqua scored in extra time to give the Seattle Sounders a 2-0 win over Panama’s San Francisco FC in the second leg of a CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round game Wednesday night.
Jaqua scored on a point-blank kick in the 98th minute to help Seattle win the two-game series by an aggregate 2-1 score and advance to the group stage of the tournament.
Seattle forced extra time with a 1-0 win in regulation on a header by Alvaro Fernandez in the 41st minute in front of a crowd of 21,233 at CenturyLink Field. That tied the aggregate score at 1-1 because San Francisco beat the Sounders 1-0 on July 26 in Panama.
The Sounders open group play Aug. 16 at home against Guatemala’s Comunicaciones.
