Sounders vs. Toronto lineups as they play for the MLS Cup

Here are the lineups for Saturday’s MLS Cup championship game between Seattle Sounders FC and Toronto FC:

SEATTLE

Lineup (4-2-3-1): Frei; J. Jones, Marshall, Torres, Mears; Roldan, Alonso (c); Morris, Friberg, Lodeiro; Valdez.

Bench: Miller, Scott, Fisher, Evans, Fernandez, Ivanschitz, Gomez.

Notes: Seattle makes one change from the lineup it used in its 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids in the second leg of the Western Conference championships. Erik Friberg, who was listed as questionable because of calf injury, comes into the attacking midfield trio in place of Andreas Ivanschitz. Captain and midfield anchor Osvaldo Alonso was also listed as questionable because of a knee injury, but there was never any doubt he’d play in this one. Midfielder/defender Brad Evans (ankle) was listed as questionable, but he makes the bench. The Sounders are of course without star forward Clint Dempsey (irregular heartbeat), who was shut down for the season in August. Midfield playmaker Nicolas Lodeiro is Seattle’s biggest threat, as the Uruguayan international notched four goals and eight assists in 13 games after arriving in late July, and he leads the Sounders with four goals in the postseason. Forwards Jordan Morris and Nelson Valdez each have two goals and an assist in the playoffs.

TORONTO

Lineup (3-5-2): Irwin; Hagglund, Moor, Zavaleta; Morrow, Osorio, Bradley (c), Cooper, Beitashour; Giovinco, Altidore.

Bench: Bloom, Bono, Cheyrou, Endoh, Johnson, Ricketts, Williams.

Notes: Toronto also makes one change from lineup it fielded in its last game, the 5-2 victory over the Montreal Impact in the second leg of the Eastern Conference championships, as Jonathan Osorio comes into midfield in place of Will Johnson. Toronto had no players listed on the injury report, so it is at full strength for the title tilt. The danger men for Toronto are forwards Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore. Giovinco, an Italian international and the 2015 MLS Most Valuable Player, had 17 goals and 15 assists during the regular season, and has added four goals and four assists in the playoffs. Altidore, a U.S. international, had 10 goals and five assists during the regular season, and has five goals and four assists in the postseason.
