SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Defensive coordinator Gary Andersen is leaving Utah to become coach at Utah State.
Utah State has a news conference scheduled for later Thursday. A person familiar with the hiring confirmed to The Associated Press that Andersen will be taking over for Brent Guy. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the official announcement had not yet been made.
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham issued a statement wishing Andersen luck and crediting him with a lot of the seventh-ranked Utes’ success as they went 12-0 during the regular season.
