It appears the rumors were just that, rumors. I pulled the following from the Spokane County Raceway Web site:
“We Are Racing This Weekend!!
Spokane County Raceway will be open this weekend running all of the scheduled races. Thursday and Friday will be the Mike Sullivan Motorcycle School racing the road course. Friday Night will be the Rockstar Friday Night Drags on the dragstrip. Saturday and Sunday will be the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Assoc on the Road Course. Saturday Night will be INSSA / Zips Pony Stocks / NW Late Model 4’s on the Oval Track.”
Also, this came from the ASA Northwest Sprintcar Racing Association:
”ASA/NSRA confirms the July 18 scheduled event at Spokane County Raceway
Many rumors have surfaced in the past week concerning the ASA/NSRA event scheduled at Spokane County Raceway being canceled. ASA/NSRA has been in contact with the facility promotor Bucky Austin and ASA/NSRA has been assured by SCR management that contractual agreements between ASA/NSRA and SCR will be honored and the event on July 18th will be held as scheduled. ASA/NSRA wants to assure race teams, fans, media, and all others interested in winged sprint car racing the ASA/NSRA scheduled event is set to run on July 18th.
