New campuses are popping up throughout Snohomish County. This past fall it was Glacier Peak. In the next few years new high schools in Lake Stevens and Marysville are supposed to open.
The new Marysville school, which will be called Marysville Getchell High, could open in 2010 or 2011. Getchell sports teams will be known as the Chargers — a nice addition to the area’s other mascots — and their colors will be green, gold and black.
To learn more about one of the (apparently controversial) ideas proposed for building sports programs at Getchell, check out this article by Herald Writer Kaitlin Manry.
Marysville-Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell enrollment won’t be determined by geographic boundaries; students will choose which school they want to attend based on academic goals, according to the article .
As soon as Marysville Getchell starts hiring head coaches for the various sports, we will report it in The Herald. I’m not exactly sure what the timeline is for that. Stay tuned.
