Stanwood edges B-E

BURLINGTON – Morgan Osborne drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday as Stanwood edged Burlington-Edison 2-1 in a non-league softball game.

The Spartans also received solid contributions from Eastern Illinois-bound senior shortstop Tasha St. Clair, (2-for-3 with two singles) and reliever Michelle Aikins, who came on in the fifth and rescued Stanwood from a bases loaded, two-out situation.

Ferndale 7, Oak Harbor 5: Oak Harbor’s Libbey Bear sparked a five-run rally in the sixth inning with a two-out double, but Ferndale responded with four runs in the seventh to win the non-league game. Bear was 3-for-4 with a single, a double, a run scored and an RBI for the Wildcats.
