STANWOOD – The Stanwood High School football team regained a share of the lead in the Wesco North on Friday with a 28-0 victory over Cascade.
The Spartans (6-1 in league play, 6-2 overall) enter their regular-season finale next week against Snohomish tied with Marysville-Pilchuck for the top spot in the North. Stanwood holds the tiebreaker over M-P, having won the head-to-head contest.
Cascade (3-4, 4-4) fell out of postseason contention.
Jon Rockstad carried 29 times for 191 yards and scored a touchdown for Stanwood. Spartan quarterback Aaron Boehme completed six of 10 passes for 60 yards and two TDs.

Monroe 34, Lake Stevens 26: Monroe collected its first win of the season, beating Lake Stevens in a Wesco North contest. The Bearcats rushed for 322 yards, with Tim Berry (24 carries, 146 yards) and Jeff Donaldson (12, 112) leading the way. John Schneider carried 18 times for 94 yards for Lake Stevens, which gained 169 yards through the air.

Shorecrest 28, Mariner 22: Jessie Hoffman rushed for 206 yards and scored three touchdowns, and teammate John Glancy ran for 63 yards and scored a touchdown to lead Shorecrest to the Wesco South victory. The Scots, who averaged more than six yards per carry, piled up 360 total yards. Aaron Cartwright rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns for the Marauders.

Shorewood 20, Mountlake Terrace 13: The defense scored all three of Shorewood’s touchdowns in the Wesco South contest. Austin Collins returned an interception 58 yards for a touchdown, and Adam Hammer and Alex Burns each returned a fumble for a score for the Thunderbirds, who managed just 87 yards of total offense.
For Terrace, Adrian Blake caught touchdown passes of 54 and 14 yards from Anthony Ruthorford. Blake finished the game with six receptions for 115 yards. Colby Peters rushed for 111 yards on 25 carries for the Hawks.

Marysville-Pilchuck 41, Enumclaw 21: Marquise Moses had another big game as he led the Tomahawks to the non-conference win. Moses rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. He also had both of Marysville-Pilchuck’s receptions on the night, totaling 23 yards.
“Offensively our team played very well tonight,” M-P coach Rudy Grandbois said. “Our running backs hit the holes very hard tonight.”
Justin Petry was one of those running backs. He gained 148 yards on nine carries and scored two touchdowns for Marysville-Pilchuck.
