Stanwood takes care of Jackson in loser-out game

EVERETT – What Bliss!

Stanwood’s Michael Bliss powered the Spartans with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored and Stanwood ended Jackson’s season with a 14-7 4A District One Tournament victory Wednesday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

“We hit the ball well tonight,” said Spartan coach Tony Wolden.

Stanwood had 17 hits, nine for extra bases. They broke the game open with a seven-run fifth inning.

Jackson finished with 11 hits. Sophomore Travis Snider continued his power streak, smacking his third home run in two days. He also added four RBI.

For the Timberwolves (16-7 overall), it was a sad end to a otherwise successful campaign. Jackson reeled off 12 straight wins to end the regular season, then won its first playoff game before losing its final two games in the tournament.

Stanwood (16-7 overall) will face Lake Stevens Saturday in a loser-out situation at Everett Memorial Stadium.
