Stanwood tennis team wins on long tiebreaker

LAKE STEVENS – Two and a half hours is one long tennis match. In a high school meet it is a lifetime. For that long Friday, Lake Stevens’ Randy Primm and Stanwood’s Brett Klemple played until nearly sunset to an eventual Klemple win in a 16-14 tiebreaker that resulted in a 4-3 Stanwood Western Conference North Division win.

Klemple took the upper hand with a convincing 6-2 win in the first set. Primm battled back to tie the match with a 6-4 second-set win and the two players fought to a 6-6 tie in the third set, forcing the marathon tiebreaker.

Snohomish 5, Oak Harbor 2: Singles players Zach Gordon and Tyler Stocker each won important matches for the Panthers in the Wesco North victory .
