After trading for defenseman Jeff Moleski on Friday, the Stealth added three more names to the ever-growing training camp roster on Sunday.
Here’s a run-down of the three players signed:
Alex Turner
6-1, 210, Left-handed forward
Kamloops, B.C.
Turner returns to the team that originally drafted the 23-year old in the second-round of the 2008 NLL Entry Draft. Turner was traded to the Minnesota Swarm on draft-day in September 2009 along with former goaltender Aaron Bold for the 13th overall (Matt Beers, defenseman) and 23rd overall (Erik Sage) selections in last year’s draft.
In 2009, Turner played seven games for the then-San Jose Stealth, recording seven goals and nine assists in his rookie season. He played one game for Minnesota in 2010, remaining on the practice squad for most of the season.
Turner had himself quite the summer with the Western Lacrosse Association’s Langley Thunder, scoring 28 goals and 33 assists.
Tyler Crompton
5-10, 190, Right-handed forward/transition
Port Coquitlam, B.C.
Crompton, a 24-year-old forward, got his start in the NLL in 2009 with the Colorado Mammoth. The righty forward appeared in 13 games, scoring nine goals and five assists and collecting 35 loose balls while twice being named NLL Rookie of the Week. Playing for the New Westminster Salmonbellies of the WLA for the last three summers, Crompton has developed his game as his offensive numbers improved every season. This summer Crompton has scored 19 goals and 14 assists as the defending WLA champion Salmonbellies are currently battling in the playoffs.
Sam Cook
6-3, 215, Right-handed defenseman Coquitlam, B.C.
Cook recently completed his fourth season with the Maple Ridge Burrards of the WLA, scoring two goals and six assists as Maple Ridge fell in the WLA playoffs. Cook, a 29-year-old who was on Washington’s practice roster last season, has appeared in 69 WLA games for Maple Ridge over his career. He has scored 11 goals and 21 assists.
