The Stealth and XKL, LLC (a provider of enterprise fiber optic networking equipment out of Kirkland) together have collected enough food and money donations to provide over 40,000 meals to Washington families in need. The two organizations met together last week to present the donations in person.
Stealth owner Denise Watkins, president David Takata and transiton player Paul Rabil were among those on hand to deliver the donations to Northwest Harvest. The Stealth held two food drives in March, including one at their March 25 game against Boston.
“Many people think about supporting Food Banks around the Thanksgiving holidays, but peoples need for help with food for their table is a year-round problem,” Watkins said in a press release. “Particularly in recent years, with the economic downturn, many more people need a little help to be able to put a healthy meal on the tables for their families. We are very happy to support Northwest Harvest in whatever way we can and help them collect food for local families.”
