The Minnesota Lynx have the largest body of work in the young WNBA season to take a look at. Minnesota is the first team to play three games this season, winning two of those three, including a split of its first two games with the Los Angeles Sparks.
Minnesota defeated the Tulsa Shock 75-65 on Tuesday night. Rebekkah Brunson led the Lynx with 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting. Brunson also grabbed 15 rebounds in the win. Lindsay Whalen scored 16 points for Minnesota, knocking down all 10 of her free throws.
Tulsa rookie Liz Cambage, the second pick in the 2011 WNBA draft, led the Shock with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
The Lynx will be the first team to play their fourth game on Thursday night when they travel to Seattle to face the Storm. The Storm defeated Phoenix 78-71 in their season opener and are riding a 23-game home winning streak. It’s safe to say this game will be a challenge for the young Lynx.
It will be the Storm’s first look at No.1 overall draft pick Maya Moore from Connecticut. Moore is one of the reasons that the Lynx were selected by the league’s general managers as the most improved team in the WNBA going into the season.
Moore scored seven points and pulled down seven rebounds in Tuesday’s victory over Tulsa. She shot just 2-for-10 from the field.
The Lynx and Storm tip off a 7 p.m. Thursday night at KeyArena.
