That is not the way you want to finish out a half.
The Storm were playing their game, Minnesota was struggling against great Storm defense and playing at Seattle’s pace.
Then the Lynx went on a 12-0 run to take a 35-24 lead. Sue Bird hit a jumper with just seconds left in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 35-26 at halftime.
Seattle has been notorious for digging themselves a hole in the first half, and they nearly avoided it this time, but Minnesota’s late first half run means once again that the Storm will be fighting from behind in the second half.
To top things off, Seattle has the inside presence of Minnesota’s Rebekkah Brunson to worry about and no Camille Little, who is not with the team today.
It is going to be a tough game for the Storm to come back and win on the road, but it is much needed. On Thursday, Seattle had an opportunity to take over the second seed in the Western Conference, but dropped a close one 69-66 to the San Antonio Silver Stars. A loss tonight for the Storm would mean they are only a 1/2 game ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
