Imagine how incredible it would be to finish high school and head to the Olympics to represent a country you’ve never even visited. For Marysville’s Haley Nemra, that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Nemra, a 2008 Marysville-Pilchuck High School graduate, competed in the Summer Olympics for the Marshall Islands, her dad’s native country, two summers ago. The mid- to long-distance runner now attends the University of San Francisco, but she’s got another unique athletic activity planned for this summer: Nemra will compete in the Micronesian Games in Palau, a small island in the Pacific Ocean.
Check out Herald writer John Boyle’s update story about Nemra that appears in today’s Herald.
