Sunday night in the WNBA

The Minnesota Lynx continued their assault on the WNBA on Sunday night with a 77-64 victory over the Atlanta Dream.

Seimone Augustus scored 19 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field and rookie Maya Moore added 12 to lead the Lynx (5-1) to their fifth consecutive victory.

Lindsey Harding scored 14 points to lead Atlanta (1-5).

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Mercury (1-3) picked up their first win of the season, edging the Indiana Fever 93-89 in overtime.

Diana Taurasi scored seven of her 32 points in the extra session to lead the Mercury, who trailed by 12 points late in the third quarter. Phoenix’s Candice Dupree chipped in 21 points and 18 rebounds.

Jessica Davenport had 20 points and nine rebounds for Indiana, but fouled out just 13 seconds into the overtime period. Tamika Catchings added 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Fever (3-3).

Indiana’s Katie Douglas, who averaged 19.2 points per game coming into the game, hurt her lower back in the first quarter and did not return.

In a battle of the two top teams in the Eastern Conference, the Connecticut Sun topped the Chicago Sky 83-68.

Tina Charles scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Sun (4-1) to the win.

Chicago’s Sylvia Fowles scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Sky (3-2). Gonzaga alum Courtney Vandersloot scored six points on 2-for-5 shooting.
