The morning slate of NFL games is now underway, but we’re still a few hours away from kickoff of Seattle’s game in Philadelphia, so while you wait, a bit of reading and viewing to keep you busy.
In today’s Herald, a column looking at how Pete Carroll and Eagles coach Chip Kelly, as well as San Francisco’s Jim Harbaugh, helped change the perception of college coaches moving into the NFL.
If you missed it, the Seahawks made a roster move yesterday, promoting WR Chris Matthews of the practice squad. And from Saturday’s paper, a look at the outstanding (and before last week, quiet) season that Richard Sherman is having.
Marshawn Lynch, who as everyone knows by now tends to avoid interviews, or when he has to talk to the media, say as little as possible, sat down with former teammate Michael Robinson on the NFL Network.
Asked why he doesn’t talk often to the media, Lynch said, “I ain’t got nothing to say. I just want to play football.”
On reports that he might retire, he said, “I’m still under contract. Ain’t even made it through this year. I’m chasing after another one of these (points at Super Bowl ring) right here.”
ESPN had a feature on its pregame show called “Waiting for Wilson” which detailed the Seahawks scouting and drafting Wilson in 2012. It’s pretty good stuff, including a scout trying not to laugh when talking about the Jaguars drafting a punter over Wilson, and Seahawks GM John Schneider taking great pleasure in saying, “We don’t give a (expletive) about what they say,” when talking about the draft pundits who ripped the Seattle’s 2012 draft.
