In an effort to give the fans an inside look at some of the people who have brought so much celebration to Seattle, The Herald will take a closer look at two Seahawks players each day this week.
Jimmy Williams
Position: Cornerback
Number: 22
College: Vanderbilt
Age: 26
What will you remember most about the 2005 Seahawks?
“The 12th Man, and how loud the crowd is. I’m going to remember that because I’ve never really experienced it like that before.”
What would you be doing if you weren’t playing football?
“I’d probably be hustling. I would be a professional hustler. I don’t know what that is, but that’s what I would be.”
What will you be doing one month from now?
“A month from now I’ll be relaxing, showing off my ring, chilling out in the pool. I’ll probably be doing some more community stuff. (Williams, a New Orleans native, helped out with Hurricane Katrina relief before signing with Seattle in late September.) With this Super Bowl thing, I’m probably a little more visible, so I’ll probably do more in the community.”
Outside of football, what’s the one thing you want to do in Detroit?
“Stay warm. Outside of football, I’ll just try to enjoy the whole experience.”
What’s your favorite memory from Super Bowls past?
“The Redskins game with Doug Williams (after the 1987 season). He’s supposed to be a relative of mine, so I was really proud. I don’t even know how; he might be a second, third or fourth cousin, somewhere down the line. But it was exciting watching my supposed-to-be cousin, with the game he had.”
What’s your favorite way to unwind away from football?
“Music. Just kick back with my (two) dogs and listen to music. I’m not a big video game guy. I just listen to music.”
What teammate do you like to tease, and why?
“(Isaiah) Kacyvenski. He doesn’t have any rhythm. We’re out there on the kickoff team, and he’s the only one off beat.”
Marcus Trufant
Position: Cornerback
Number: 23
College: Washington State
Age: 25
What will you remember most about the 2005 Seahawks?
“I would say the perseverance and everybody overcoming the injuries and things that happened this season. Guys stepped up and played. A lot of guys had to play.”
What would you be doing if you weren’t playing football?
“I would probably still be close to the sport somewhere. I would try to be a sports announcer or a camera guy, something that would keep me close to the sport.”
What will you be doing one month from now?
“I’ll probably be babysitting at home. I just had a little baby daughter (on Jan. 24).”
Outside of football, what’s the one thing you want to do in Detroit?
“There’s probably so much to do. I don’t know what to expect. I’m just trying to do any and everything that has to do with the Super Bowl, just so I can enjoy the experience.”
What’s your favorite memory from Super Bowls past?
“I remember the Super Bowl a couple years ago, I think it was the Rams and Tennessee, and that pass on the goal line where that guy (Titans receiver Kevin Dyson) reached out but didn’t quite get the touchdown. That’s a pretty good memory. I’ll remember that one always.”
What’s your favorite way to unwind away from football?
“Doing nothing. Sitting at home, watching TV on the couch.”
What teammate do you like to tease, and why?
“I like to tease Seneca (Wallace) about his hair because he’s been trying to grow his hair out. He’s been trying to get his hair as long as mine for a long time.”
