After the first week of high school football, we have a better idea about which local teams are the cream of the crop.
One result that really grabbed my attention was Arlington’s 42-12 blowout win over highly touted Mariner in a Wesco 4A season opener. Sure, Mariner did not have star running back KeiVarae Russell, but Arlington was very impressive in every facet.
Arlington is not included in the latest Tacoma News Tribune rankings. In fact, no local 4A or 3A teams are in the top 10. Click here to see the complete TNT Week 2 rankings.
Watch out for Glacier Peak (1-0) and Meadowdale (1-0), which are on the 3A watch list.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Murphy (1-0) climbed to No. 2 in the 2A rankings, and King’s (1-0) is No. 7 in the 1A rankings.
