Terrace fights off Everett

EVERETT – The Mountlake Terrace boys basketball team traveled to Everett Friday night with a one-game lead over the Seagulls in the Wesco South standings, and kept their hosts from making up any ground with a hard-fought 58-55 victory.

The Hawks improved to 5-2 in the league (6-3 overall), while Everett dropped to 3-3 (5-3).

According to Everett assistant coach Jim Anderson, the game came down to Mountlake Terrace making its shots late in the game.

“They hit their shots when they had to in the fourth quarter,” he said, “and we didn’t take care of the ball very well. It was a great game and they had a balanced attack that pulled them through.”

The Hawks finished with three players in double figures, led by Ryan Webb’s 21 points. Ronald Stiel-Williams and Shawn Garren each added 12.

Everett was paced by Adam Moore’s 17 points, while Sam Wertheimer added 15.
