Terrace rebounds from 0-1 start to down Shorewood

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE – After a 64-55 victory over Shorewood Friday, Mountlake Terrace, a loser last week to Meadowdale, is re-evaluating its place in the Western Conference South.

“We went on a 16-4 run in the second quarter,” Mountlake Terrace coach Nalin Sood said. “giving us a 13-point halftime lead. The second quarter was big.”

Junior Mike Boxley scored a team-high 18 points, eight of which came in the decisive 20-10 second quarter. Boxley also added four assists and nabbed nine rebounds.

Teammate Andrew Mundt scored 10 points in the game, six of which came off free throws. Four were in the second quarter. Also for Mountlake Terrace, Justin Hammond scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Shorewood’s Rob Diederichs scored a game-high 19 points.

“It was just a solid game,” Sood said. “Last week was heartbreaking, but we rebounded this week with a victory over Shorewood. We’ve got a young team, but we expect to be in the thick of things for Wesco and this is a good step in the right direction.”
