EDINBURG, Texas — Shaquille Hines scored 22 points and Texas-Rio Grande Valley snapped a six-game losing streak with a 67-57 upset win over Seattle Thursday night.
Seattle now has lost back-to-back games after having a five-game win streak snapped. The Redhawks remain in fourth place in the Western Athletic Conference standings, a game ahead of Utah Valley.
The Vaqueros started quickly, building a 10-point lead by intermission, 37-27, and matched Seattle point-for-point in the second half.
Dan Kimasa and Ot Elmore each added 11 points for Texas-Rio Grande Valley (7-19, 3-8) and Kimasa added 10 rebounds.
Jack Crook tied a career high with 22 points, hitting 10 of 15 shots from the field, and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Seattle (12-13, 6-5). Brendan Westendorf contributed 14 points and William Powell added 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
