SAN DIEGO – Tenth-ranked Texas, which blew a shot at playing in the Rose Bowl, accepted an invitation to play No. 20 Washington in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28.
It will be the second straight trip to the Holiday Bowl for the Longhorns (10-2), who lost to Oregon last year, 35-30. Washington is 8-3.
Texas lost 39-37 to Colorado in the Big 12 championship on Saturday night, wrecking its national championship hopes.
Washington will play in the Holiday Bowl for the third time in six years.
