I spent this morning washing my eyes out with cold water, then had a lovely brunch and watched my niece play soccer. It was almost enough to erase the memory of Washington-Stanford football….Almost.
I’m out at Hec Ed for the basketball game and so as to not lose my buzz of basketball season starting, I’m going to try to avoid talking too much about the football game. Heck, you all saw it, what’s more to say.
Washington just looked like a team that wanted no part of playing a football game, shocking given the gravity of the game. It looked like the Huskies hoped that Stanford wouldn’t show up, and when the Cardinal did show up, Washington just wanted to go home and go night night. Which it pretty much did on the field.
Now comes the most uninteresting Apple Cup I can ever remember. The only thing that has me at all interested in that game is if Felix Sweetman actually plays. That’s it. That’s all I want…well, that and for there to be little snow in the pass.
On to basketball. We’re about 35 minutes from tipoff and it’s not a very good crowd, though there’s a big crowd in the Dawg Pack section. Isaiah Thomas is sitting behind the Husky bench. All the Huskies expected to be in uniform were warming up. It sounds like Spencer Hawes will come off the bench and Artem Wallace will start. Not much other than that to report yet. We’ll blog as much as possible during the game, but with the fast-pace expected, I’m not sure how much time there will be.
