Here’s a look at Tak Shimazu’s version of The Evening Star, a classic fly created to catch Atlantic salmon.
Tak made two flies of this beautiful pattern and donated them to be auctioned last weekend to benefit the Washington state chapter of the Federation of Fly Fishers and Project Healing Waters.
Each fly, framed and including a postage stamp of the pattern, raised about $400.
Healing Waters is a project dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans through fly fishing, fly tying, and outings.
The photo doesn’t do this fly justice. It was a true work of art.
