The Herald’s Man and Woman of the year candidates

Today, The Herald begins the process of announcing the winners of its annual Man and Woman of the Year in Sports awards.

The candidates were chosen from dozens of nominations submitted by readers. The Herald sports department selected the four male and four female finalists and a panel of previous award winners picked the 2006 honorees.

Starting with today’s stories on Kelly Kubec and Kristi Kingma, The Herald will reveal two runners-up each day through Wednesday. The 2006 Man and Woman of the Year in Sports will be announced on Thursday.
