I happened to look up from my computer in the media work room and see Brandon Burmeister walk by wearing a boot on his right foot. Asking around, it’s apparently not a serious injury and Burmeister should be fine, but it’s got to be a little bit of a concern given the health of the Husky basketball team with the first practice about a week away.
Burmeister becomes the fourth Husky men’s basketball player with an injury. Center Hans Gasser (shoulder) is expected to be ready to go by the first practice but guard Joel Smith and center Joe Wolfinger are both out for awhile with foot injuries. Smith could return in around 3 weeks, maybe, but Wolfinger is out long term, possibly for the entire season. That’s too bad, as he put in perhaps more work than anyone in the offseason (it seemed like anytime I would pass the basketball floor, he was out there working out by himself) and was looking good in open scrimmages.
