SEATTLE — National player of the year Danielle Lawrie was among three University of Washington softball players who were named to the AFCA All-America first team Wednesday.
Lawrie, a senior pitcher, was joined by teammates Jenn Salling and Niki Williams.
Lawrie (40-3) was among the nation’s leaders in wins, ERA (1.00) and strikeouts (478) this season, and she also batted .311 with team-highs of 15 home runs and 57 runs batted in.
Salling, a junior shortstop and fellow Canadian, hit .346 with six home runs and 33 RBI.
Williams is a sophomore outfielderfrom Southern California who batted .345 with 11 homers and 45 RBI. She was named as the designated hitter/utility player on the All-America team.
The Huskies begin play in the College World Series on Thursday night against Georgia.
