From NASCAR (Sept. 8, 2009)
DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Since July 6, more than 85,000 votes have been cast by NASCAR fans for their Most Popular Driver selections in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and in each of NASCAR’s six regional touring series.
But voting in three of those series will end before the month of September is over, so fans should make sure their voices will be heard.
Fans can visit www.nascar.com and vote for their favorite driver for the Most Popular Driver of the Year Award in two of NASCAR’s national series. In addition, www.nascarhometracks.com is hosting the balloting for each of NASCAR’s regional touring series – the NASCAR Camping World Series East and West, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, NASCAR Mexico Series and NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
This year, fans also may “write in” their favorite driver if he/she is not among the nominees for a specific series. Fans should e-mail fanfeedback@nascar.com and submit their write-in vote. Fans may continue to cast online ballots for their favorite driver once per day until voting ends.
Various track and team/driver web sites throughout NASCAR also carry links for fans to vote. Many drivers also have voting links available via their Facebook pages and Twitter accounts.
This month already signals the countdown to the end of balloting for the NASCAR Camping World Series East (Sept. 25) and for both the NASCAR Camping World Series West and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (Sept. 26).
Fans have until Oct. 10 to vote for drivers in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour; Oct. 18 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour; Nov. 22 for the NASCAR Mexico Series and Oct. 31 for both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Results of the balloting will be announced at each of the respective series banquets at the end of the season.
