EVERETT — The Everett Silvertips are getting colorful.
The Tips are doing their part for breast cancer awareness when they hold their Pink the Rink night during tonight’s game against the Tri-City Americans. The event is being held in conjunction with Providence Comprehensive Breast Center.
A strong pink theme will be in place tonight at Comcast Arena. Fans are encouraged to don their best pink garb. The Tips are getting into the act by wearing special jerseys with pink trim, as well as pink laces on their skates.
The jerseys are up for auction, with the proceeds going to Providence General Foundation. Fans can bid either online at the Silvertips website, or during the first two periods of tonight’s game. The jerseys will then be presented to the winners following the game.
Also available for purchase are a limited number of pink hockey sticks autographed by the team, as well as commemorative t-shirts. All proceeds from the chuck-a-puck competition and from program sales will also be donated to Providence General Foundation.
The Tips are recognizing those who are or have battled cancer during the first intermission. That includes the opportunity for fans to have names recognized on the scoreboard.
