Tips fall to Winterhawks in 2nd-to-last game of regular season

Everett loses 5-1 and will conclude its regular season on the road Saturday against Tri-City.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Jaydon Dureau scored twice and the Portland Winterhawks outshot Everett 49-22 in a 5-1 win on Friday night in the second-to-last game of the regular season for the Silvertips.

Michal Gut opened the scoring with a goal on assists from Ty Gibson and Ronan Seeley at 3:45 in the second period. But that was all the offense the Silvertips could muster.

Portland responded with goals from Jack O’Brien, Aidan Litke and Dureau to take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

Dureau and Kurtis Smythe added goals in the final period for the Winterhawks.

Koen MacInnes stopped 44 of 49 shots in goal for Everett (45-12-5-5).

Taylor Gauthier made 21 saves for Portland (47-16-3-2).

The Silvertips conclude their regular season with a road game against the Tri-City Americans on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
