Tired Panthers still triumph

MILL CREEK — Weariness proved no problem for the Snohomish boys swim team Thursday.

The Panthers swept all 11 events, defeating Everett 120-52 in a Western Conference North Division meet.

"I thought it wen’t pretty well," Snohomish coach Rob Serviss said. "We’ve had a lot of meets in the last week — we had four in the last six days — so we’re a little tired. But, all-in-all, I thought we performed pretty well today."

Panthers’ Andy Ferguson and Chris Fulton each swam state-qualifying times. Ferguson swam a state time in winning the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 3.59 seconds) and Fulton swam a state time in winning the 500 freestyle (4:59.54).

"Those were both really good," Serviss said. "They were in events those guys don’t normally swim, so for them to be able to bust out state times in events they don’t train for, I was pretty impressed."

Jonathan Zander and Joseph Anderton each won two individual events. Zander won the 200 freestyle (1:56.33) and the 100 freestyle (54.97), Anderton won the 100 butterfly (58.12) and the 100 backstroke (59.28).
