Tony Wroten, one of the nation’s highest-rated Class of 2011 basketball players, has been ruled ineligible to attend Garfield High School in Seattle, according to this report.
Wroten, a highly touted sophomore guard, led Garfield to the Class 4A state tournament last season. It’s unclear where Wroten will end up. His family plans to fight the Seattle School District ruling, according to the report.
In other basketball news, a few things jumped out at me this morning when I checked our local results. One was the long-range shooting performance of Marysville-Pilchuck’s Nick Soriano. The 6-foot senior guard made seven 3-pointers in M-P’s 75-57 victory over Cascade.
And the senior-less Glacier Peak boys basketball team just keeps rolling. The Grizzlies improved to 3-0 by winning the first league game in program history, beating Shorecrest 50-41. Up next for Glacier Peak are its toughest tests yet: On Friday the Grizzlies play at Jackson (2-0), and on Saturday they play host to Meadowdale.
