Like many young men of similar age, high school senior Terrence Jones appears to have some commitment issues.
The Portland-area basketball player continues to profess his love for the University of Washington men’s basketball program, but he’s still unwilling to put a ring on the Huskies’ proverbial finger.
Jones told Oregonian columnist John Canzano on Wednesday: “I’m still committed to Washington, but I’m not willing to sign anything at this point.”
Jones has been at the center of national recruiting attention over the past week. He held a live press conference that drew almost 25,000 curious people on The Oregonian internet site last Friday, when he announced that he had chosen UW over schools like Kentucky, Kansas, Oregon and Oklahoma. And yet Jones still hasn’t signed his letter of intent.
According to The Oregonian story, Jones has taken heat from fans of several programs, including UW, because of his perceived indecision.
Jones said last Friday that he chose the Huskies because he wanted to continue playing with Terrence Ross, a former Jefferson High School teammate who officially signed with UW last Friday.
The deadline for the current signing period is May 19. By then, Jones is likely to have finalized a decision.
