The future of the Washington State football program is now, which isn’t good news for Oak Harbor High graduate Marshall Lobbestael.
WSU head coach Paul Wulff said Tuesday that true freshman Jeff Tuel will start this Saturday, replacing Lobbestael.
“Marshall’s coming off a major (knee) injury, and it’s going to get better,” Wulff said. “We’re not trying to anoint anyone the next anything. … If Jeff is struggling, maybe we can bring Marshall in.”
Lobbestael has completed just 45 percent of his passes this season (36-for-80) and has three interceptions and two touchdowns for the Cougars (1-3).
Washington State plays at Oregon on Saturday night.
