Not a lot in the way of big news to pass on from today. Tyrone Willingham said that tight end Michael Gottlieb has some sort of hamstring injury, and is day-to-day.
He was one of several players not participating and or limited for this afternoon’s practice along with Jake Locker (hamstring), Brandon Johnson (knee), Byron Davenport (ankle), Brandon Yakaboski (hip flexor), and Anthony Gobern (unspecified leg injury).
Willingham said that with Gottlieb out, senior Walt Winter would be the No. 1 at tight end were the season to start today.
Willingham was also asked if he thought Curtis Shaw, who left the team yesterday to tend to family issues, would be back on the team at some point.
“At some point yes,” he said. “Obviously I don’t know that point.”
