Sometimes replacing a coach can fire up a team, it appears that was the case with the Los Angeles Sparks as they defeated the San Antonio Silver Stars 84-74 on Tuesday night in coach Joe “Jellybean” Bryant’s debut as head coach.
Bryant replaced Jennifer Gillom on Sunday just one day after the Sparks fell 99-80 to the Storm at KeyArena.
Ticha Penecheiro scored 18 points to lead the Sparks (5-6).
Sophia Young scored 22 points to lead the Silver Stars (7-4), who plummeted from first to fourth in the conference with the loss.
In Tuesday’s other game, the Seattle Storm beat the Washington Mystics 79-71.
