Not a whole lot to pass along today from practice, which has been moved to the Lynnwood Ice Center for the duration of the circus being at Comcast Arena.
Nothing’s changed regarding the situation with Jordan Mistelbacher and Tyler Kieffer, who were sent home this weekend for violating team rules. Still no word on whether this is a permanent thing or not.
Brenden Stephen is going to sign his WHL education contract, meaning the 18-year-old defenseman, whom GM Doug Soetaert acknowledges is a project, will be in all likelihood be making the team (having appeared in games last season I figured he already had signed, but I guess I was mistaken). Indeed, with just 24 players still with the team, and two of those (Kyle Beach, Taylor Ellington) heading off to NHL training camps just before the season begins, there won’t be any more cuts unless additional players are brought in.
One more thing. Left wing Tyler Parker has an ankle sprain and therefore won’t be playing when the team travels to the Tri-City preseason tournament this weekend. The Tips play Thursday night against Spokane and Friday afternoon against Portland.
