Tuesday Seahawks links

Despite another win that improved the Seahawks’ record to 8-1, a lot of the talk during Monday’s Pete Carroll press conference was about what’s wrong with his team. Most notably, Carroll talked a lot about his defense’s struggles against the run over the next two weeks, which is the topic of my story in today’s Herald.

Larry Stone of the Seattle Times says last week’s ESPN E:60 segment on Marshawn Lynch showed us a softer side of the running back we rarely see. And if you missed it last week, you can see that feature below:

In light of the Richie Incognito fiasco in Miami, Dave Boling of the News Tribune says hazing has no place in the Seahawks locker room.

Danny O’Neil of 710 ESPN Seattle looks at three things we learned Sunday and three things we’re still trying to figure out.

Greg Bedard of TheMMQB.com has his midseason All-Pro team, and puts Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas on his defense. Of Sherman, Bedard writes, “Sherman seems to be the one man corner who has played above the rest with consistency.” And on Thomas, he says, “Thomas is, without question, the best free safety in the game. Devin McCourty may challenge him in time, but no one possesses Thomas’ closing speed, and that makes up any sloppy play that may leak out of the Seahawks.”

It’s an insider piece, so you have to have a subscription to read it, but Mike Sando of ESPN takes an interesting look at how much good cornerback play is worth after watching the winless Buccaneers and their $16 million CB Darrelle Revis face the Seahawks and Richard Sherman, who is going to have a big payday in Seattle or elsewhere in the next couple of years.

ESPN also has its weekly power rankings, leaving the Seahawks at No. 4.

Mike Silver of NFL.com, meanwhile, still has the Seahawks at No. 1 in his 32 question column, which leads off with a look at the improving Carolina Panthers, a team the Seahawks beat to start the season, and a team that, at this rate, Seattle could see in the playoffs.
