YAKIMA — Lesjar McKinney poured in a game-high 29 points as Tulalip Heritage held off Sunnyside Christian to capture fourth place in the Class 1B boys state tournament Saturday with a 56-52 victory.
McKinney made 13 of 25 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, to help the Hawks (23-3) to their second trophy in two state-tournament appearances. He also had a game-high 10 rebounds, two assists, five steals and a blocked shot.
Tulalip trailed most of the way before Keith Davis hit a 3 with 6:55 to play that snapped a 41-all tie and gave the Hawks the lead for good. SC got within a point twice after that, but Tulalip hit its free throws down the stretch.
Davis finished with 13 points.
Steven Broersma led Sunnyside Christian (13-13) with 16 points, Matt Crabtree added 11 and Steven Bosma pulled down nine rebounds.
